Digital Publishing Series:

Storyboarding | iMovie

The storyboarding presentations below were introduced in grade 6 students as part of a unit where they had to develop scenes for their writing. We lead discussions around cinematography elements such as:

  • Camera shots, camera angles
  • Lighting, sound, music, mood/ tone, color
  • Mise-en-scène (placement and size of objects in foreground, midground, background)
  • Expressions on characters’ faces
  • Clothing/ costume

Students then made choices to demonstrate an understanding of how to use these techniques to develop and amplify their characters.

Would be great to work on one option where they could present the drawings digitally after creating them by hand so that we can keep a better record of their work.

I attached two examples of digital ones...most of the examples I have are on paper...so I am not saying these are good but just to give the idea of what they have to do.

After consulting with grade six teachers, we found that the key to success to be the choice, as some learners really enjoy just drawing the pictures.
